(1596 - 1673)

A Dutch cartographer born in Alkmaar to William Blaeu and sometime official cartographer to the Dutch East India Company.
Blaeu, with the help of his family, ran what was essentially a factory that created exquisite Atlases. He was in fierce competition with other map makers of the period, especially his neighbour Johannes Janssonius, the two producing many maps that remain especially decorative to this day.
