(1891 - 1950)
Born a Ukranian Meninsky arrived in Liverpool at just six weeks old. He went to the Slade with his friend David Bomberg, was taught by Philip Wilson Steer and attended Walter Sickert's studio. Meninsky was an active part of the London Group headed by Roger Fry and dominated by Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant.
Meninsky was also a great friend of the English 'fauve' Sir Matthew Smith. Like Smith he produced a fascinating corpus of work that provides an important link in the development of twentieth century British painting.
